We would like to welcome you to our historical guesthouse / hostel. This traditional house was built around 1850 with great care by the grandfather of the current owner Mark Zef Koçeku. He also built the Tower of Isolation next to the guesthouse in order to help the people who wanted to escape the revenge as prescribed in the traditional Albanian laws The Kanun.
The owner, Mark Koçeku (1944) grew up in this area but went to the city Shkodër when he was fourteen years old. He decided in 2010 to return in the summer and change the use of the house. He restored the house that was built by his grandfather and transformed it into a lodge in traditional style.
Nowadays the fourth generation of the Koçeku family runs the hostel as a family business. The guesthouse with camp site is a place to relax. The wide garden and farm animals make you forget time. The 360-degree view of the mountain peaks around the valley is amazing.
The guesthouse has four family rooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen. On the hundred plus sunny days of the year, meals are served outside on the veranda, where the guests enjoy a traditional breakfast, lunch or dinner. Of course we offer the traditional homemade Raki.
In the past we have welcomed thousands of guests like the former president Bamir Topi – in March 2015- and other Albanian VIPs. We were happy to receive him in our hostel. Like all our visitors from more than twenty nationalities, we know that he had a quiet and peaceful time at our guesthouse in Thethi.
In the 1500 square meter garden we have ample space for visitors who come by camper, motor or bicycle (respect!). Visitors can sleep in their own tent or vehicle. The garden is also a safe area for children to play.
